This is a blog about my life and about traveling. My goal is to inspire others to travel to expand their way of thinking.

I made a mental note in my head about watching this documentary that my friend dluu mentioned on his tumblr. It’s called “Seoul Train.” I finally had the opportunity to watch it today after my hip hop class.
Now I honestly didn’t know much about North Korea. If I were to free associated I would say, “Kim Jong, nukes, dictator, potential war, beef with South Korea.” I knew there was a dictator in power that was using his money to do crazy things for himself (due to articles found on digg.com and such like http://listverse.com/2010/05/30/top-10-crazy-facts-about-kim-jong-il/), but I really didn’t know the extent of how terrible the state of the country was which included/s a terrible famine that has/d left tons and tons of people starving, dead, or running to the neighboring border of China for refuge and help.
Once opposing and leaving the country, it is considered a capital crime. I had no idea there were 200k+ North Koreans hiding in China from their situation. China considers these refugees are sort of economic leeches and illegal immigrants and systematically hunts them down and deports them. However, since these Koreans are considered to have been defected, they end up in prisoner camps once returned to North Korea, receive sub-human treatment, and are even killed as punishment.
I highly recommend you guys to watch this film and educate yourselves. It follows several high profile families and their stories… Some ending happily and others not so much.
